4. Mode of Action of Acetamiprid 250 g/kg + Imidacloprid 100 g/kg

4.1. Acetamiprid 250 g/kg

Acetamiprid is a Neonicotinoid insecticide acting similarly to nicotine.

Mechanism:

• Binds strongly to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) on nerve cell membranes.

• Causes overstimulation, nerve excitation, followed by paralysis and death.

• Exhibits strong contact and systemic activity, especially effective against planthoppers, leafhoppers, whiteflies, and other soft-bodied insects.

• Low toxicity to mammals due to weaker binding affinity to mammalian nAChRs.

Acetamiprid is a low-dose, rapid-action insecticide effective against Hemiptera and Lepidoptera, and is compatible in rotation with Organophosphates, Carbamates, and Pyrethroids.

It is also widely used in urban and residential pest control programs.

4.2. Imidacloprid 100 g/kg

Imidacloprid is a systemic Neonicotinoid insecticide acting on the insect nervous system.

Mechanism:

• Binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the peripheral nervous system, blocking synaptic transmission.

• May also affect the central nervous system, inhibiting signal transfer across synapses.

• Causes paralysis and eventual death.

Systemic movement:

Imidacloprid is absorbed through roots or leaves and translocates throughout the plant, protecting stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits.

Insects ingest the active ingredient when feeding and die shortly afterward.

Imidacloprid is highly toxic to insects and invertebrates, but less toxic to warm-blooded animals and aquatic vertebrates due to rapid degradation and excretion.
